Diversity Foundation's Education and Scholarship Program - Larry Cortez
Larry Cortez going back to schoolThe Diversity Foundation of Minnesota is proud to annouce its first graduate from the Diversity Foundation Education and Scholarship Program - Larry Cortez from the Crow Creek Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
The Diversity Foundation is currently working with two of the colleges from Winona Minnesota - Minnesota State College Southeast Technical and Winona State University.
Larry Cortez with Southeast Technical College's VP of Student Affairs, Nate EmersonOver the past years, the Diversity Foundation has begun facilitating scholarships and financial aid in order to provide educational opportuities for Dakota Reservation youth to attend Southeast Technical College and St. Mary's University, both of Winona, Minnesota.
Larry Cortez graduated from Southeast Technical from the welding program on May 13th, 2011. For his final project, he designed and made crosses for the cemeterys at the Crow Creek Reservation. For more information about the Diversity Foundation Cemetery Restoration Project click HERE.
The Diversity Foundation wishes to thank the people from Rochester's Trinity Presbyterian Church for helping us to support Larry's on-going educational endevors and for buying the material needed in order to manufacture the crosses.
